Authenticator (OTP)
Use the Authenticator in Oten Pass to generate one-time codes (OTP) for secure sign-in across your accounts.
1. About OTP codes
Authenticator generates 6-digit codes that refresh automatically every few seconds.
Each code:
Is time-limited
Can only be used once
Should not be shared with anyone
2. Add an account
You can add an account by scanning a QR code or entering the setup key manually.
Add with QR code
Open Authenticator
Tap +
Select Scan QR code
Scan the QR code from the service
The account will appear in your Authenticator list.
Add manually
Open Authenticator
Tap +
Select Manual input
Enter:
Account name
Your key
Type of key
Tap Add
For Type of key, keep Time-based unless the service tells you to use Counter-based.
3. Use an OTP code
Open Authenticator
Find the account you want to use
Enter the 6-digit code when the app or service asks for it
If the code is about to expire, wait for a new one before entering it.
4. Find an account
Use the Search bar to quickly find an account in your Authenticator list.
5. Transfer accounts to another device
Use Transfer accounts when you want to move Authenticator accounts to a new device.
Export accounts from this device
Open Authenticator
Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner
Select Transfer accounts
Tap Export account
Select the accounts you want to transfer
Tap Next
A QR code will be generated
Scan this QR code using Oten Pass on your new device.
Import accounts on a new device
Open Authenticator on the new device
Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner
Select Transfer accounts
Tap Import account
Scan the QR code from your old device
You will see a confirmation after the accounts are imported.
After transfer
After the new device imports your accounts, choose whether to:
Delete exported accounts from the old device
Keep exported accounts on the old device
Only delete exported accounts after confirming they work on the new device.
6. Use Privacy screen
Privacy screen helps hide OTP codes from others.
Turn on Privacy screen
Open Authenticator
Tap the menu icon in the top-right corner
Select Privacy screen
Turn it on
When enabled, you may need Face ID or device authentication to open Authenticator.
Turn off Privacy screen
Go to Privacy screen
Turn it off
7. Troubleshooting
QR code scan is not working
Check camera permission and make sure the QR code is clear.
OTP code is invalid
Check your device time and wait for a new code before trying again.
Codes are not updating
Restart the app and check your device settings.
Import failed
Make sure the QR code is valid, then try scanning again.
8. Important notes
OTP codes expire quickly
Keep your device secure
Do not share OTP codes with anyone
Only transfer accounts to trusted devices
Use Privacy screen for extra protection when viewing codes
