What is Oten Drive

Overall

Oten Drive is a private workspace that behaves like a normal folder on your device—except everything inside is protected, organized, and ready for real-world pressure (travel, audits, device loss, coercion). You work as usual; the app quietly enforces security, access rules, and clean hand-offs between your devices.

We minimize what we collect, what we store, and what we can see. Your privacy is the product.

Who it’s for

  • Individuals and teams who handle sensitive files (founders, lawyers, researchers, creators).

  • People who want everyday speed (drag-and-drop in Finder/Files) without trusting a provider with decryption keys.

  • Anyone who may face coercion or confiscation and needs believable decoys.

What you get

  • Folder-like experience: Drag/drop, rename, preview—no special file manager to learn.

  • Shadow Layers: One vault, multiple views. Each password reveals a different dataset (real or decoy).

  • Offline-first usage: Add and organize files with no internet; changes sync when you’re back online.

  • Auto-lock discipline: Step away and the vault closes itself, leaving a minimal footprint.

  • Device approval: New devices must be explicitly allowed. Temporary devices are easy to revoke.

  • Recovery you own: A Recovery Key resets access if you forget your password.

How it fits your day

  • Daily work: Open vault, drag/drop like a normal folder; it auto-locks when idle.

  • Multi-device: Work offline on laptop; later your desktop syncs changes cleanly.

  • Team hand-offs: Approve teammates’ devices to a shared vault; revoke when projects end.

  • Client delivery: Use a Delivery Layer for finals; keep budgets/source files in a private layer.

  • Stealth project: Keep real prototypes in Primary; show a Decoy Layer if asked to unlock.

  • Lab/R&D: Open Lab Layer for experiments; keep publishable outputs in a separate layer for reviews.

  • Travel/border checks: Unlock a Travel Layer with harmless docs; your protected layer stays unseen.

  • Personal admin: Everyday files in Personal; IDs/finance in a Private Layer you never open in public.

  • New device: Sign in → request approval → start working; remove access when the trip or engagement ends.

Where it lives

  • Desktop & mobile: Integrated with your operating system, so your vault feels native.

  • Team flow (upcoming): Share a vault with teammates you approve; everyone works in the same space with clear boundaries.

What it is not

  • Not a plaintext syncing folder.

  • Not a password manager.

  • Not a “we hold your keys” service—recovery remains in your hands.

Typical outcomes

  • Less mental overhead: Treat sensitive work like any other folder; the app handles the guardrails.

  • Safer hand-offs: Add a device for a trip, then remove it when you’re home—no lingering access.

  • Coercion-aware operations: If you must unlock something, you decide which layer to reveal.
